Abstract
The investigation entitled Performance of different hybrids of Sponge Gourd (Luffa cylindrica L.) for Growth, Yield & Quality was carried out at Department of Horticulture, SHUATS, Prayagraj (U.P.) during kharif season of 2024, for evaluation of different hybrids of Sponge gourd with three replications and 7 hybrids in Randomized Block Design (RBD). The hybrids comprised of H1(AVT-II 2021/SPGHYB-1), H2(AVT-II 2021/SPGHYB-2), H3(AVT-II 2021/SPGHYB-3), H4(AVT-II 2021/SPGHYB-4), H5(AVT-II 2021/SPGHYB-5), H6(AVT-II 2021/SPGHYB-6), H7(VNR-ALOK). Studies shows that, among all the hybrids, (VNR-ALOK) was observed to be best performed in terms of growth parameters like early germination (20.05 days), vine length (2.90 m), earliness in female flowering with (32.07 days), quality parameters like fruit diameter (22.67cm) and TSS (3.12 0Brix), yield parameters like Average yield per hectare (190.46 q/ha), Gross return (5,00,000 INR/ha), Net return (4,00,000 INR/ha) and Benefit-Cost ratio (4.00).
