Abstract
Anthracnose is a destructive disease affecting cucurbits, causing significant losses. The disease can reduce yield by up to 30% in cucumbers and up to 60% in watermelons. A survey conducted in various districts of Karnataka revealed that the highest disease severity was recorded in the Chitradurga District (15.45%), while the lowest was in the Raichur District (3.47%). Colletotrichum orbiculare, the pathogen that causes this disease, produces sparse white mycelia with honey-colored pigmentation on their underside. It also produces small aseptate and obtuse conidia, as well as hyaline and septate mycelia.
