Dr. Momodu Jalloh

I am an agricultural scientist and research professional with expertise in plant genetics, crop breeding, and crop protection, supported by over 15 years of experience in research, field implementation, and university teaching across West Africa and Southeast Asia. I hold a PhD in Genetics and Breeding from Universiti Putra Malaysia, with advanced training in entomology, integrated pest management, and applied molecular biology. I am currently serving as a Research Scientist (Plant Breeder and Crop Protectionist) at the Sierra Leone Agricultural Research Institute (SLARI) and as an Associate Lecturer at the Eastern Technical University of Sierra Leone. My research focuses on oil palm, rice, cocoa, coffee, and vegetable crops, with specific emphasis on quantitative trait analysis, yield improvement, pest disease interaction, and sustainable production systems. I have published widely in peer-reviewed international journals and actively engage in oil palm consultancy, agricultural innovation, and capacity building. My work integrates field experimentation, laboratory diagnostics, and data-driven breeding approaches to support the development of climate-resilient, high-yielding crops for smallholder and commercial systems. My specialization includes Plant Genetics and Breeding; Crop Protection; Entomology; Integrated Pest Management (IPM); Oil Palm Improvement; Quantitative Trait Analysis; Molecular Breeding; Agricultural Research and Development; Climate-Smart Agriculture.
